Los Angeles native, Jazz Brooks, began working in early education at the tender age of 14 with Agape Love Family Day Care. With a passion for child development, Jazz went on to work with middle school youth through LAUSD and DC public schools. At 22, Jazz began working as a Dance Instructor and Performing Arts Coordinator at Emerson Middle School, creating and facilitating lesson plans for classes that averaged 25-30 students. At 28, Jazz began working at Howard Middle School of Math and Science facilitating assignments and demonstrations in the subjects of Creative Writing, Theater, Dance, and Life Science. For nearly 12 years Jazz has facilitated activities that engage students’ physical, emotional, and social development. She has assisted behavioral specialists with counseling, while encouraging students to be understanding and patient with others, and remain accountable for their actions.
Jazz has now branched out to create the Growing Prodigies Family Learning center, where she uses music and art to stimulate mental, physical, spiritual, and academic growth. Jazz has also created Flowrhythmic Prodigies, an afterschool performing arts troupe. This education-based organization uses music, theater, and dance to dive into various topics such as Language, History, Science, & Cultural diversity.
In 2014, Jazz received her BFA in Theater Administration from Howard University, where she received a grant to attend the University of Southern California Film school for one year on domestic exchange.
Jazz is now CPR, First Aid certified, and licensed by the State of California for early education. In the next five years, Jazz plans to continue her work with the youth by stimulating visceral and informed catalysts for self-actualization, awareness, and progress.
